Banteay Srei ( Khmer: បន្ទាយស្រី [ɓɑntiəj srəj]) is a 10th century CE Cambodian temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and Parvati. Located in the area of Angkor, it lies near the hill of Phnom Dei, 25 km (16 mi) north-east of the main group of temples that once belonged to the medieval capitals of Yaśodharapura and The East Mebon (Khmer: ប្រាសាទមេបុណ្យខាងកើត) is a 10th Century temple at Angkor, Cambodia.Built during the reign of King 222. Prasat Neak Pean Sandy Vyjay (Atlas Obscura User) The Neak Pean temple stands at the center of a reservoir known historically as Jayatataka Baray. A wooden bridge leads to a small island in Neak Pean was built by King Jayavarman VII (a king of the Khmer Empire from (reigned 1181 to 1218). The construction was completed in the 12th century. It was initially designed as a hospital. There are four connected pools around the island representing Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind. Neak Pean, "the entwined snakes" is a small temple located on an island in the center of the now dry Jayatataka baray, a water reservoir 3,500 meter long and 900 meter wide. Initially dedicated to the Buddha, the temple was rededicated to Lokeshvara, the Bodhisattva of compassion. Much of the temple area is flooded during the rainy season. The modern name in Khmer, "Prasat Kravan", means artabotrys odoratissimus temple. The temple was dedicated to Vishnu in 921 CE, [1] : 70 according to an inscription on doorjambs.
