Drive about 3.5 miles up Boreas Pass Road to a parking area where the road turns to dirt. The road is closed here in winter. In summer, continue 6.5 more miles up the 2WD, dirt road to Boreas Pass. There are some signs, a few small buildings, and an old boxcar. We had a great time enjoying all the snow and nature. That day was perfect for a cross-country outing, with fresh snow. At Baker's tank that is where the loop goes back down. The wide trail continue straight too but for more prepared people: leads to a peak. Boreas Pass Road is not maintained in the winter, meaning the scenic drive and its hikes are only accessible between winter seasons and once all snow has melted. While it's snow covered, the road is a great winter hike option for snowshoeing and cross country skiing.
