Festivities run until 11 p.m. Saturday and 5:30 Sunday. This year marks the 72nd annual Highland Games and the association's 32nd year in Enumclaw. The games were brought back to Cupar over 40 years ago by David Martin, John Hendry and David Lang, assisted by members of the town's Round Table - and for many years the event flourished. A Fife based Highland Games which dates back to the 1880s has been disbanded due to a lack of volunteers. The Cupar Highland Games, which were first launched in 1886, had become part of the region's summer circuit after restarting in 1979. Organisers had put out an appeal almost a year ago to find new volunteers for summer 2024, but after Michael Deason who comes from New Mexico and is currently studying at Glasgow University made his Fife Highland Games debut a winning one at Cupar on Saturday. 12 seniors and 8 juniors provided the pedal power at Cupar on Saturday and they produced some exciting races for the crowd.
