Tryavna (Bulgarian: Трявна [ˈtrʲavnɐ]) is a town in central Bulgaria, situated in the northern slopes of the Balkan range, on the Tryavna river valley, near Gabrovo.It is famous for its textile industry and typical National Revival architecture, featuring 140 cultural monuments, must and expositions. Tryavna is the birthplace of Bulgarian writer Pencho Slaveykov and revolutionary Troyan Municipality is located in Northern Bulgaria at the foot of Stara Planina - 36 km. south of Lovech, 160 km. northeast of Sofia, 120 km. north of Plovdiv and about 300 km. from the Black Sea coast. The favorable geographic location has created conditions for establishing good transport links with the rest of the country via the road and Troyan is a town remembering the name of Roman Emperor Trajan, in Lovech Province in central Bulgaria. It is the administrative centre of the homonymous Troyan Municipality. The town is about 162 kilometres away from the country capital Sofia. The river of Beli Osam passes through the heart of the town.
