Chennai, June 01: The bust of late Major Mukund Varadarajan, who sacrificed his life during call of duty, was unveiled at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) on Monday, June 1. Army says that the Major Mukund Varadarajan, Ashok Chakra was an Indian Army Officer who was commissioned into 22 Rajput. He attained martyrdom on 25th April 2014 fighting with terrorists in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. The brave Major killed three terrorists including Hizbul Top Commander Altaf Wani. Mukund had a sweet tooth and after every meal, he asked for sweets. According to sources, Mukund's last words were "Please take care of my parents, wife, and child." In 2024, it was announced that a Tamil film titled Amaran, based on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan, would be released. In the film, Sivakarthikeyan will portray his Mukund Varadarajan was killed in an operation against militants in J&K. Major Mukund, from Tambaram near Chennai, was an alumnus of OTA.
