A core objective of the Bar Association is to promote, maintain and improve the standards of local practising barristers. Our Professional Development Department achieves this by organising the Bar Exams, the Bar Practice Course, Reading, mentoring and the Continuing Professional Development Program (CPD). CPD Program. CPD means continuing professional development. CPD activity means a continuing professional development activity within the meaning of rule 6. CPD point means a point allocated to a CPD activity under these Rules. CPD program means a seminar, course or other activity that satisfies rule 6 and includes the Bar CPD program. CPD year begins on 1 through the NSW Bar Association Website. Barristers are required to maintain a record of engagement in CPD activities for the CPD year containing the details outlined in this form, in paper form or electronically, and must retain that record for at least three years after the CPD year (see rule 12).
