Aoshima Island (青島, Aoshima) is a small, beautiful island just off of the coast of the resort beaches south of Miyazaki City. Aoshima is connected to the mainland by a bridge and is ringed by white beaches surrounding a subtropical jungle at the island's center. Aoshima-jinja is located on an island about 100 meters from land. The shrine itself is impossible to see from the beach as it sits within thick, tropical jungle. A ferry from Ozu, Japan, will take you to Aoshima Island in less than 20 minutes. The sparsely populated island has become a booming tourist attraction, but there are no stores or restaurants here. Aoshima can be found in the southern part of Miyagi Prefecture's Miyagi City on an island connected to the coastline. It is a subtropical island filled with plant life and power spots to visit.
