Nationality Dutch. Death place Delft. Daniel Mytens, who came from a family of painters, was born in Delft and trained in The Hague. He was in London by 1618 when he was working for the Earl and Countess of Arundel. He first painted King James VI and I in 1621 and was appointed 'picture-drawer' to Charles I on his accession to the throne in 1625. He may have been a pupil of either Michiel van Miereveld or Jan Anthonisz van Ravesteyn, or both. By 1618 he was in London, painting the great connoisseurs the Earl and Countess of Arundel. He painted James I in 1621 and was awarded an annual pension by the King in 1624. Soon after Daniel Escotto holds a master's in arts and architecture studies from Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain.
