Casco Bay Ferry to Peaks Island. May 2023. Took the ferry to Peaks on the recommendation of Timothy from Maine Foodie Tours. Very enjoyable, especially since the weather was sunny. Peaks is a small island with a few shops and is a great place to walk. Ferries run about every hour and it's a short ride from Portland. While we're fierce advocates of Portland's Old Port (the late night eats are stellar, dining al fresco is a breeze, and there are plenty of ways to work up a sweat), there's no denying that summer = island time.Luckily, the Casco Bay islands are just a short ferry ride from Commercial Street, allowing locals and visitors alike to take a break from the mainland, enjoy a slower pace, and Portland Head Light, Maine, William Aiken Walker.
