Anthony Rose was 75 years old and he fell down an elevator shaft and died. He was admitted to the almhouse because he was old and there was no one who would be able to take care of him. Chief of these is the Almshouse which houses the offices and library. Other buildings are the Pest house, Smokehouse, and Barn. The Almshouse and its predecessors were the ancestors of today's nursing homes, mental health hospitals, homeless shelters, and other social services and health care facilities.
