Wrong Sidewinder. This was a NC based band that got pretty big. They even went on Star Search only to lose out to Sawyer Brown. The band won a corporate sponsorship for Coors Light beer in 1986, and expanded touring to include the entire East coast as well as three provinces of Canada. The final rendition of the band ceased touring in 1994.Its popularity led to the band appearing on the "Ellen" DeGeneres Show, "Entertainment Tonight," "Good Morning America," and "Fox and Friends." Band vocalist, Air Force Staff Sgt. Angie Johnson, also appeared on the hit NBC show "The Voice." But all of that pales in comparison to playing at the White House. Sidewinder were an Australian indie pop group founded in 1990 in Canberra by Pip Branson on guitar, Martin Craft on bass guitar and backing vocals, his brother Nick Craft on lead guitar and vocals, and Giri Fox on drums. Early in 1994 Shane Melder replaced Fox on drums and in the next year the group relocated to Sydney. Sidewinder were staples of the Australian alternative rock scene in the Air National Guard band members assigned to the 571st Air Force band, Missouri National Guard, perform an acoustic version of a popular song while deployed to Southwest Asia in early August 2011.
