Fulkes Middle School held a ribbon cutting on October 6, 2022 to celebrate the opening of the school this year. The campus is named after C.D. Fulkes, who served as the principal of Round Rock High School for 19 years. His legacy will live on in this new state-of-the-art building. The Board of Trustees approved funding for the project at its regular monthly board meeting on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021. The $49.5 million project will be funded through Bond 2018 revenue. A Citizens Bond Committee identified CD Fulkes as a priority when developing recommendations for capital projects for the 2018 Bond package. When the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed, granting equality and integration in schools, the Rev. Anthony Mays became the first and only African-American student to be allowed to enroll in Round Rock High School for the 1964 Next Dennis Covington named Round Rock ISD's Chief Financial Officer.
