Richland Creek WMA is managed by the TPWD and is adjacent to Richland Chambers Reservoir, which was built by the Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) in the 1980s to help meet the growing water supply needs of the Dallas-Fort Worth region. The WMA was created to mitigate wildlife habitat loss resulting from the construction of the reservoir. The Richland Creek WMA is located 25 miles southeast of Corsicana, along US Hwy 287 and FM 488 between the Richland-Chambers Reservoir and the Trinity River. It encompasses 14,272 acres of land; the majority of the Area lies within the floodplain of the Trinity River.
