The squamosal or squamous suture is the cranial suture between the temporal and parietal bones bilaterally. From the pterion, it extends posteriorly, curves inferiorly and continues as the parietotemporal suture. The lambdoid suture is the serrated interlocking joint between the two parietal bones and the occipital bone of the skull, whose name derives from its resemblance to the Greek uppercase letter lambda (Λ). It is one of the prominent sutures of the skull, easily identifiable on the posterior and lateral aspects. Definition.
