None is better than the other, just different. What I prefer over the Fender CS's is the Sandberg smaller body (& lighter weight), and the single volume and pick up controls. The "aged" thing is something you like or not. Fender because I hate the Sandberg headstock. And like Fenders. At least the Sandberg headstock is an original shape, unlike many other Jazz/P type basses who have an identical Fender shaped headstock. I like Fenders as well (I have 2), but my Sandberg is most definitely a superior bass to both of them in all aspects. I play a Sandberg Electra VS4 which is their budget line P-bass style bass with a modern touch. The playability is really good and the build quality is great. I also have the Electra VS4, and if I had the budget for either a Sandberg California or an American Fender I wouldn't hesitate to spend it on the Sandberg.
