We are The Tulalip Lushootseed Dept. challenges Tribal citizens and employees to start using these three (3) simple Lushootseed phrases, instead of the English ones. Tulalip Lushootseed, also known as Puget Salish is called dxʷləšucid, xʷəlšucid and txʷəlšucid . It is spoken by most of the tribes around the Salish Sea. The Voices of Lushootseed. Since many of us grew up speaking English as a first language Dzidzilalich is an ancient Lushootseed word for arrival place in Seattle. Alaskan Way has a new honorary name: Dzidzilalich ! It is the original landing spot or place of arrival in Seattle on the waterfront. In Lushootseed (Puget Salish), Dzidzilalich also means a place to turn around or cross over.
