Dornblaser Field was originally located at the base of Mount Sentinel and east of Main Hall, now the location of the University Center and Mansfield Library. Originally opened in 1912, the facility was named for Paul Dornblaser, a captain of the football team that year who was killed in World War I. The stadium has a north-south orientation at Dornblaser Field and South Campus Stadium. Dornblaser field is located on South and Higgins Ave with an open space for athletic events, celebrations, and recreation. It is close to the UM Golf Course and the former home turf of the Montana Grizzlies football team. The South Campus Stadium is also the UM playing field for women's intercollegiate Dornblaser Field is home to the University of Montana track & field teams and hosts several meets each spring, including the Al Manuel Invitational.
